The distinctive rock and roll sound of Elvis will return to Norwich with the annual King's Crown Award competition.
The event, which is being held at The Talk concert venue, in Oak Street, on October 10, will see 10 of the best Elvis compete against one another in front of packed audience filled with fans of ‘The King.’
Promoter Andy Sexton believes that the night will be full of excitement and is one that fans will thoroughly enjoy.
Mr Sexton said: “It’s going to be a great night of entertainment at a great venue, and with tickets only costing £12 it’s amazing value for money.”
The legendary musician may have died 38 years ago, but his legacy is still going strong, with thousands of people impersonating the star across the globe each year.
The demand to be an impersonator was clear to see for Mr Sexton when he was putting the competition together this year, with many having to be turned down due to a lack of space.
Mr Sexton explained: “We had to cut the numbers down to 10 for the show, because if we had gone ahead with the original numbers the show could have gone on for days.
“Elvis has a massive following everywhere, always has and always will. When you see people in the 70s jumpsuits you can see that passers by are turning their heads and taking notice.”
Despite the fun nature of the event Mr Sexton, of Taverham, believes that all of the contestants will feel the pressure when they step onto the stage.
“All those taking part will be full of excitement and jokes backstage, but once they are on that stage they are Elvis and will want to perform to a high level.
“There can only be one winner at the end of the night, there are no second or third places in the competition.”
The contestants will be competing in front of a panel of six judges who have been involved in the Elvis phenomenon for many years.
The evening will also see a special raffle taking place in which all the proceeds will go to the MAGPAS Helimedix Air Ambulance.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, with all of the rock and roll action getting under way at 7.30pm.
Tickets for the Elvis spectacular are on sale now through The Talk’s ticket office, either in person or over the phone on 01603 660220. Those wanting tickets are advised that ticket will not be available on the door on the night of the event.
