Youngsters from Norfolk and Suffolk have transformed dozens of CDs and plastic bags into a brightly-coloured dragon.
The scaly beast was created by artist Maggie Campbell and 13 foster care children during a two day workshop at the UEA in Norwich.
The creature is currently on display at the Forum Norwich and helps celebrate the city's Dragon festival.
Linda Gower, achievement co-ordinator for the Looked After Children Education Support Service, said: 'Building the dragon was great for getting the children to work together. They worked really hard and they were all very proud of what they achieved.'
As well as making the dragon, the youngsters got the chance to tour the UEA campus where they learned about the advantages of higher education.
The project was funded by East Anglian Complimentary Health and the Norfolk Community Foundation.
