Talented youngsters at a Norfolk high school will be showcased in a classic production of the hit musical Fame – which runs for three consecutive nights from tonight.

The musical will be performed by a stellar cast of talented high school actors, dancers and a live band from Sprowston Community High School.

Debbie Money, head of drama at the school and director of the production, said: 'We have always wanted to produce Fame the Musical at Sprowston Community High School as it is a showcase for our talented students who can both sing, dance and act. The cast, crew and supporting staff have all worked so hard and we are very proud of them.'

For those who somehow missed the storyline of the musical, which has been made into a film on two occasions, it is set in a performing arts school in New York and combines exciting drama, dancing and music.

It follows the story of a group of young hopefuls as they audition for roles, experience successes and disappointments, but are persistent in their dedication as they face challenging, personal situations in order to make it in the world of entertainment.

Thirteen-year-old schoolboy Billie Bell, who is part of the production, said that it gave him the chance to express his passion for the Arts.

He added: 'I am extremely proud to be part of the production. I am tired after months of rehearsals but I know it will be worth it in the end.' One of the lead characters, Nick Piazza, is played by Alex Kubiesa, who added: 'I am excited but exhausted.'

The show runs for three nights, starting at 7.30pm, from tonight until Friday.
