Hundreds of youngsters from around Norfolk heard from authors and poets at a children's book festival.

The Norfolk Children's Book Festival, hosted by the Norwich School, aims to promote a love of literacy and books among young people.

The fifth annual event, held this week, included speakers such as Julian Sedgwick, Michelle Paver, Steve Feasey, Mitch Johnson, Matt Windle and Ali Sparkes.

The winners of a 500-word creative writing competition were also announced, with Emily Perfect, from Kinsale Junior School, winning in the junior, year six, competition with her The Tortoise piece of writing.

Runner-up in the category was Alisha Chan, also from Kinsale, who wrote Ivy's Day Out.

In the senior category, for year sevens, Joe Askew, from Sheringham High School, came in first place, with his Shipden's Siren.

The runner-up was Keisha Clarke, from Archbishop Sancroft High, in Harleston, with The Teddy with the One Button Eye.
