A village pre-school which has been running for more than 40 years has been given a satisfactory rating by Ofsted inspectors.

Drayton Village Pre-School offers children consistent support and helps them build positive relationships with carers and with each other, according to a report following an inspection last month.

The pre-school, based at Drayton Village Hall in Pond Lane, was rated “satisfactory” for its early learning provision.

Inspectors said children at the school made good progress in learning and development, and were happy concentrating on and participating in group activities.

The report said: “The children show confidence by taking themselves to the snack bar when they are ready and moving between activities when they wish.

“They play together happily and are able to share and take turns. They show a sense of belonging to the pre-school community.”

Organisers have been asked to improve the pre-school by ensuring that records are kept available for inspection at all times and stored confidentially, and to use the outdoors areas of the hall more effectively as a learning environment.
