Pupils at a Sprowston school have put pen to paper to praise their teachers for a glowing inspection report.

White Woman Lane Junior School, which has 272 pupils, aged from seven to 11, was visited by Ofsted inspectors in June.

Now Ofsted has published its report, which rates the school overall as good, with praise for effective teamwork and leadership and good quality teaching.

Following the report, four Year 4 pupils, Eve Seago, Summer Amos, Chelsea Pegg and Charlotte Watkins, penned a letter in praise of the school. In it they said: 'We like the teachers and appreciate what they do for us.

'We think the school is really fun because we get to go to after school clubs and we do history days e.g. Roman day, Ancient Egypt day, World War Two Day and Tudor Day. Also, we go on school trips including residentials to How Hill and Hilltops.

'We think this school is great. The teachers make the lessons 'fun and educational' at the same time.'

The students also praised the school's awards, and the school caretaker.

Headteacher Ashley Best-White said it was nice to have been recognised for an 'oustanding curriculum'.

She said: 'Our teachers are really committed, which is shown by the wide range of extra-curricular clubs we have that extend learning outside of the school day thanks to our staff volunteering to do that. The children also work extremely hard. We have some brilliant children with really supportive parents and that makes a difference as well.'

The school has been asked to raise boys' interest and standards in literacy and provide more opportunities for all pupils to write at length, which Mrs Best-White said were issues which had already been identified by the school for improvement.
