A pilot scheme hoping to make it easier for international students to study in the UK has been rolled out to a Norwich university.

The scheme, which applies to Masters students, has been extended to another 23 universities, including the University of East Anglia, immigration minister and Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis has said.

The initiative is currently in its second year with universities including Cambridge and Oxford.

Universities taking part are given responsibility for eligibility checks, meaning students can submit fewer documents that currently required.

Professor David Richardson, UEA vice-chancellor, said: “We welcome the minister’s encouraging announcement that UEA will participate in the home office Tier 4 visa pilot.

“Our international students bring immeasurable cultural, academic and economic benefits to UEA, the city of Norwich and the wider region.”
