More than 100 youngsters braved the wind and rain to battle it out on the hockey pitch.
Pupils from West Earlham Junior, Avenue Junior, Norwich High School, Lakenham Primary and Cringleford Primary yesterday took part in the first round of competition for the new Winter School Games.
The eight to 11 year olds played quick-sticks hockey at the home of the Norwich Dragons Hockey Club in Hall Road.
The final was between Cringleford and Avenue junior schools. Cringleford won and will now go on to represent the Norwich School Sport Partnership (SSP) at the Winter School Games in March.
Jon Osborne, from the Norwich SSP, said: 'They were all brilliant.'
