A Norwich university has revealed a new student flat complex taking shape in the city centre will be used for its students.
The University of East Anglia (UEA) says it has entered into an agreement with Alumno to provide 244 new rooms for students at the Pablo Fanque House, on the former Mecca Bingo Site in All Saints Green.
It will provide the accommodation from September 2018, initially for students entering second and final years of study. Students are invited to apply for one of the en suite rooms or studio flats from January.
Permission was granted for the 13-storey complex last October, despite concerns over employee working conditions from Aviva.
The accommodation will be managed by Derwent Students.
Paul Bailey, UEA accommodation manager, said: “This new project will provide some much-needed additional, purpose-built student accommodation in a great location in our wonderful city.”
