A Norwich pupil who volunteers at a Norfolk charity has been awarded a school award for her efforts.

Eloise Pitcher, who studies at the Norwich School, has been given the Arnold Award after being nominated by the Big C cancer charity.

The lower sixth form student volunteered for the Big C's Magdalen Street shop in Norwich for a few hours each week at the end of the winter term last year.

She sorted through donations and tagged them ready for display, as well as occasionally helping out on the shop floor and tills.

Eloise said she received a 'huge amount of personal fulfilment' through the work and a 'really interesting insight' into the charity.

Dr Chris Bushby, chief executive at the Big C, said Eloise was an example of how young volunteers could make a 'real difference'.

He said she became a valuable member of the team.
