Norwich City stars helped get across the message to more than a hundred schoolchildren that racism should be shown the red card.

Canaries goalkeeper John Ruddy and midfielder Andrew Surman took part in yesterday’s Show Racism the Red Card event at Carrow Road.

Young people from a number of city schools went to the stadium for the event, where they got the chance to take part in an afternoon of educational activities.

They watched Show Racism the Red Card’s latest DVD, featuring top footballers and posed questions on racism to the special guests.

Youngsters from Heartsease, Kinsale, St William’s and Lakenham Primary Schools attended the event.

Ged Grebby chief executive of Show Racism the Red Card said “We have been fortunate to enjoy great support from Norwich City for our campaign over the years.

“This kind of event is ideal for addressing the subject of racism, thanks to the support of the club and the community department we have been able to organise an event that is both educational and fun.”
