Cromer Academy has a new person at the helm.

Previous head Penny Bignell has been seconded to a new executive principal role at the Inspiration Trust which runs the school.

It will see her working with both Cromer and Hethersett Academies.

Dr Geoff Baker has been brought in to Cromer as acting principal to deal with the day-to-day running, said a statement from the school.

Dr Baker has senior leadership experience at three secondary schools and has been deputy director of teaching and learning across the Inspiration Trust since September.

He was previously a history lecturer at Keele University and senior academic advisor at the Centre for Integrative Learning, University of Nottingham.

He said: 'I am very excited about coming to Cromer. I know how talented the staff at the school are and have seen how well the students work and interact as a community.

'I am particularly keen to further understand what is unique about Cromer and how these elements can be drawn out and celebrated as the school continues to move forward.'
