A former chorister is cycling 1,000km taking in 15 cathedrals in 12 days for charity - and he arrived at Norwich today.

Harry Seaford, 65, started his journey at Canterbury and visited Rochester, Chelmsford and Bury St Edmunds before arriving in Norwich.

He left the cathedral at about 10am on his way to Ely and will then cycle to Peterborough, Leicester, Nottingham, Southwell, Lincoln, Sheffield, Bradford, Leeds and York.

His visit to Norwich was also a chance to meet up with Roger Lee, sacrist at Norwich Cathedral. They come from the same Kent village, Cobham, where Mr Seaford still lives.

Mr Seaford said: “God has given me a good life and I feel fit and healthy. My wife said I was mad to do it but I’m enjoying it. I also want to pray at each of the 15 cathedrals.”

He spent a few minutes of quiet contemplation and prayer at Norwich Cathedral, which he said was “fantastic”, before setting off.

Mr Seaford is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, the Clive Pare Memorial Fund, which provides grants to students, and the upkeep of his local church, St Mary Magdalene Cobham.
