A sign clearly states that there is no access to Trowse, near Norwich, via White Horse Lane between 8am and 9.30am, Mondays to Fridays.

Only bicycles and buses are exempt from the ban on the road, which leads to Trowse Newton and crosses under the A146.

However Norfolk Police have said officers have been monitoring the road and have found people not complying with the law.

In a Twitter post, they warned that people could be reported if they are founding flouting the rules.

South Norfolk Police Tweeted: 'White Horse Lane, Trowse. You could be reported if found contravening this 'No Access' Recent monitoring has shown that motorists are not complying.'
