A lyrical tribute to the 25-year-old man stabbed to death during a party at the mansion of former world champion boxer Herbie Hide has been posted on the internet.

Tafadzwa Khan, known as Taffy to his friends, from St Giles Street, Norwich, died after being stabbed at the party in Long Lane, Bawburgh, just after midnight on Sunday, March 18.

The rap, Letter to Taffy - Tribute to Taffy Khan, has been posted on YouTube by treebizzle, known as Trebor, and has already had more than 3,300 views since it was uploaded on March 19.

He wrote: “A Dedication to a good Friend of mine who lost his life to knife crime. I hope his soul and spirit are free and until we meet again your in my heart R.I.P My Brother”.

The four minute tribute features a picture montage of Taffy and his friends being shown against a the back drop of a rap song which features the lyrics: “RIP Taffy Khan your soul is free my brother, may God guide your spirit.

“For everyone that knew him or even if you didn’t, if you’ve got a bottle in your hand, I don’t care if its champagne or water; tip some out for my brother. RIP.

“Dear Mr Taffy Khan, they knew you as Taffy true Afrikaana still can’t believe it, it’s tragic. I hope you’re in heaven not stuck in the traffic. Now you’re soul’s free you can party with angels and live lavish. I hope God knows he’s lucky to have him and I hope you help his mumma through the time of his passage untimely as hell and no matter how hard I try to think I couldn’t find a reason someone would stab him.”

The lyrical tribute has attracted a host of positive comments from friends and family of Taffy, including MrMindandMatter who wrote: “thank u man for doing this, great post. if anyone can tell me how my cusin lived, i last saw him wen i was 10 and he was 11 back in zimbabwe, please, it would be much appreciated...”

While Trish wrote: “Trebor, that’s so beautiful, Taffy was so smiley and I am so gutted about this, as I know everyone who knew hime is, Trish (ex ymca receptionist) xx.”

His mother Shereen Sinclair has spoken out through a statement released by police. She said: “I’m deeply saddened by the loss of my son and I’m touched by the many flowers and lovely tributes left outside the YMCA.

“I’ve been encouraged by the number of people coming forward with information, especially those from the black community, and I would urge anyone else who knows what happened or has any information to contact the police.”

James Clough, 18, from Aspland Road, Thorpe Hamlet, has been jailed for eight weeks by Norwich magistrates after he admitted being in possession of a four-inch kitchen knife at the party.

A 20-year-old man from Norwich has been released on police bail pending further inquiries, and a 16-year-old boy who was earlier arrested on suspicion of murder has also been bailed. Information to police on 101.
