A topless man was arrested in Norwich after he was reported to be carrying an eight-inch carving knife whilst shouting and swearing.

It happened in Suffolk Square at around 3.40pm today, Sunday, and Norwich Police's PC Dan Taylor said officers rushed to the scene.

'We were called to reports of a man in white jogging bottoms with no top on, waving around an eight-inch carving knife and shouting and swearing,' PC Taylor said.

'When we arrived we found him, we found the knife, and now we're appealing for witnesses to come forward if they saw anything.'

The man was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remained Sunday evening.

PC Taylor added: 'We do think this is an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public, but people are encouraged to get in touch.'
