A shop owner has spoken out after his business has been targeted by burglars three times in just one year.

Abul Hussain who runs Desh Cash and Carry in Cowgate, off Magdalen Street, spent £40,000 refurbishing the store 18 months ago.

The most recent attack came on Thursday, December 1 at around 3am. Mr Hussain’s colleague, Abul Azad, who lives in the flat above the shop, was woken up by the sound of someone breaking in through the bathroom window.

The burglar ran downstairs, broke a window and tried to
get into the shop before running away.

Mr Hussain, 37, who lives in Elizabeth Fry Road, said: “We don’t know what to do.

“We won’t consider moving – it is a business and we have loyal customers.

“When my colleagues call me in the morning I worry and when I get calls on my mobile I worry something has happened.”

During the previous two burglaries, offenders broke into the shop through the front door and stole cigarettes and money from the till.

Anyone with information should call Norwich CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
