Police yesterday issued a plea for a member of the public who called with information relating to the murder of a Norwich prostitute to get back in touch urgently.

The body of 16-year-old Natalie Pearman was discovered at Ringland Hills on the outskirts of Norwich at 3.50am on November 20 1992 just hours after she had last been sighted in the city's red light district in Rouen Road.

The Evening News ran a renewed appeal on Saturday to mark the 19th anniversary of her death in a bid to aid detectives investigating the case. The appeal prompted a call from a member of the public who police desperately want to get back in touch.

A Norfolk police spokesman said: 'As a result of the article... Norfolk and Suffolk Joint MIT took a very interesting call from an anonymous caller who claimed to have seen her getting into a car on King Street on the night she disappeared.

'Officers from MIT would be very keen to speak to this anonymous caller again as any information they may have could be pertinent to the enquiry. Officers would be happy for the caller to remain anonymous.'

Natalie's case is one of a number being looked at by Norfolk Constabulary's cold case team, set up in 2008 to investigate murders, missing people and serious sexual offences still unresolved.

Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry, senior investigating officer in the case, told the EDP, the Evening News' sister-paper, on Saturday that they had been active on the inquiry over the past few months and were 'progressing several fresh lines of inquiry'.

He said they had also received or had contact from several members of the public about things they observed around that time which have led to new inquiries.

If you were that caller, or if you have information about the Natalie Pearman inquiry, call 101 or email coldcaseteam@norfolk.pnn.police.uk
