An inquest has been opened into the death of a woman who had a fall at her Norwich home.

Phyllis Mary Gowing died on April 13 at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Norfolk Coroner's Court heard today.

The 82-year-old, who was born in Thetford and lived in Ranworth Road, west Norwich, was a retired shop assistant.

The court heard how she was admitted to hospital following a fall at home.

A doctor's report gave the medical cause of death as Type 2 respiratory failure, due to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with contributory factors of traumatic dens fracture and childhood polio.

The inquest was adjourned until 11am on September 14, 2018.
