Workers at a new Norwich store have vowed to help rid the city of unsightly graffiti tags by joining future paint- out sessions.

The Evening News Graffitibusters campaign, supported by Norwich police along with Norwich City Council, the Central Norwich Citizens' Forum and the Norwich City Centre Partnership, was launched earlier this year.

It has already attracted dozens of volunteers, armed with brushes, to attend paint-out sessions, and now workers at the Wilkinson home and kitchenware store have vowed to help bolster volunteer numbers at future events.

Keith Yandall, manager of the St Stephen's Street store, said 'We are all extremely excited at the prospect of rolling up our sleeves and helping other volunteers on a Graffitibusters' paint-out.

'Wilkinson is proud to be trading in Norwich; however graffiti is a prevalent and unsightly problem.

'We are looking forward to joining forces with other local residents to try to eradicate this problem and keep our city centre looking tidy.'

The store, situated in the former Co-op store, has already provided the campaign with 500 worth of vouchers to help purchase paint and cleaning products as part of its opening day celebrations in September.

Julian Foster, chairman of the City Centre Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel (SNAP), said he welcomed the generous offer of help from the Wilkinson.

He said: 'I'm more than grateful to Wilkinson for their very generous donation and any support we can have from their staff in volunteering.'
