A man tried to free himself from his police cell because he thought there were demons inside, a court heard.
Bruce Gardiner, 60, grabbed hold of a police officer through the shutter in his cell at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre as he tried to free himself.
Norwich Magistrates Court heard Gardiner was 'complaining about his cell having demons inside' and was trying to get out.
Gardiner, of no fixed abode, admitted an offence of violence in a police station when he appeared at court on Tuesday (January 2).
He was fined £100 although was given a day's detention in default which was deemed served as Gardiner was arrested on January 1.
He was also ordered to pay £30 compensation to the officer and had a month added to a suspended sentence order imposed for a separate offence.
Dave Foulkes, for Gardiner, said he has mental health issues.
