A man who was caught with hundreds of pounds worth of cannabis has been ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service.

Defkros Felekkis, 37, of Patricia Road, Lakenham, pleaded guilty to eight counts of possession of drugs at Norwich Magistrates' court yesterday.

The court heard that Felekkis, a self-employed landscape gardener, was found with 108 grams of cannabis and cannabis resin, which has a street value of 320, on July 4 this year.

He also had a quantity of nitrazepam, buprenorphine and dihydrocodeine on him.

When police searched his home on September 8, they found a further 86 grams of cannabis with a street value of 250 along with temazepam and dihydrocodeine.

He admitted the drugs were for his own recreational use and said he was getting help to beat his addiction.

He said: 'I have taken steps to address my addicitions.

'I have been referred to the Matthew Project.

'In the last few days I have been put under by a hypnotherapist and have managed to avoid smoking and have not drunk any alcohol.'

Chairman of the bench Jill Tallowin said: 'You will do 100 hours of unpaid work.

'It would have been 150 hours but we have discounted it because of your guilty plea.'

Felekkis was also ordered to pay 85 court costs.
