A man who said he drank two bottles of wine before driving has been banned from driving for 18 months.

Michael Heath, 56, of Round Well Road, New Costessey, was breathalysed by police after his car collided with another on the forecourt of the Total garage on Dereham Road on December 21, when he got out of his car and forgot to put his handbrake on.

Heath's blood-alcohol reading was 79mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mcg.

He was also fined �120, and will pay �55 in court costs.
