Court officials are investigating how a video of a man's court case in Norwich ended up being posted on the YouTube website.

The video shows Mark Bond in the dock at Norwich Magistrates' Court on December 2, and appears to have been filmed from the back of the court, where a friend of his was sitting on the day.

It is a criminal offence to take any photographs or videos of proceedings in court rooms, and the Justices' Clerk at the court said they would now investigate it.

Mr Bond would not comment yesterday, and his friend, who sat at the back of the court while Mr Bond was in the dock, said that it was 'nothing to do with him'.

As reported, Mr Bond appeared at court on December 2 for owing two years' council tax to Broadland District Council totalling 2,211.

He was arrested outside court following a dramatic stand-off with officials because he claimed he was not a UK citizen and not liable to pay tax.

He was then taken into custody and detained in cells before he appeared in the dock several hours later in front of District Judge Philip Browning, who can be seen in the video.

Mr Bond calls himself a 'Freeman-on-the-Land' and does not accept he is liable to pay the council tax. He was handed a suspended three-month jail sentence on condition that he pay 20 a week off the debt.

The odd job man, who works from his home at Moulton St Mary, near Acle, said yesterday that he was still refusing to let the matter lie.

He said: 'I'm now going to take it to the High Court. They denied me my rights and then I was kidnapped by a private company and detained in cells for three hours. This is going to the Secretary of State.'

The 'Freeman-on-the-Land' group is a worldwide organisation of people who have revoked consent to be governed by human laws.

Freemen-on-the-Land has previously challenged court cases across the country and some have even videotaped proceedings, posting the results on YouTube.
