The first two venues to be awarded accreditation status under the Best Bar None Norwich scheme were presented with the awards by Norwich North MP Chloe Smith.

Best Bar None is a nationwide scheme that was set up in Norwich this year and aims to make the city a safer place at nights.

Sarah Mintey, the principal of the Open Youth Trust, said: “The award recognises our commitment to promoting a safe and entertaining night out in Norwich.”

Pam South, landlady at the Brickmakers pub in Sprowston Road, said: “It will benefit customers in Norwich to know the high standards that the city’s pubs, clubs, bars and venues are aiming for.”

Another 20 licensed hospitality trade outlets are going through the application and assessment process.
