Metal poles used in large scale Bowthorpe fight

Five people have been arrested following a large scale fight between two groups of people involving metal and wooded poles.

Four people were injured during the melee that broke out between two large groups of men and women at the junction of Goodhale Road and Noot Alley, Bowthorpe.

Officers are still hunting two people in connection with the disorder which broke out sometime between 9.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, October 30.

Windows at a property on Goodhale Road were smashed during the disturbance which led to at least two people requiring treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The five people that have been arrested have all been released on bail until December. No charges have yet been made.

Andrew Wiltshire, a Norwich City councillor for Bowthorpe, said he was 'shocked' to hear about the outbreak of violence and urged anyone with information to contact police.

He said: 'To be honest I'm quite shocked. It's not something we normally have to deal with. We get occasional scuffles like you get anywhere, but nothing on that scale.
