A man caught speeding at 154mph on the A11 was the fastest recorded driver in the country last year.

Louie Howlett, 21, of Lakenheath High Street, was captured more than double the limit on the road at Icklingham.

The speed was only matched by a driver caught doing the same speed on the M5 near Worcester.

A motorist from Norfolk who was snapped doing 142mph on a county road was responsible for the fifth fastest speed in 2016.

Simon Hackett, 45, of Arles Avenue in Wisbech, was caught riding his Honda CBR 1000 motorbike at that speed on the A47 near Terrington St John.

In total 180 motorists were found to be doing 100mph or more on Norfolk’s roads last year.

The figures were released following a Freedom of Information request by TeamSport Indoor Karting.

Figures revealed Avon and Somerset police force handed out the most speeding fines.
