A good Samaritan came to the aid of a man who was involved in an altercation with a group who jumped out of a car in Norwich.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was walking on East Hills Road in New Costessey at about 7pm on Friday, when a Mercedes stopped sharply in front of him.

Three men jumped out of the car and were involved in an altercation with the victim.

A witness, described as being a 50-year-old white man, approximately 5ft 9ins and of a stocky build came to the victim’s aid. He was also described as wearing brown boots and dark clothing.

That caused the suspects, who police said were black men, to return to their car before leaving the scene.

Anyone who saw what happened, or anyone with information, should contact DC Scott Malcolmson at Norwich CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
