A drugs courier caught bringing cocaine into Norwich on the A11 has been ordered to pay back £2300 in cash.

Jowayne Bonnie, 27, was driving an Audi A5 towards the city at the Thickthorn roundabout, when he was stopped by police.

Bonnie, from London, was jailed for two years for possession of cocaine with intent to supply in March, last year, but was back at Norwich Crown Court for a hearing to claw back cash made from the drug dealing operation.

Matthew Sorel-Cameron, prosecuting, said that as well as the cocaine found at his arrest, police also seized £2300 in cash.

He said the cash held by police was the agreed benefit figure.

Judge Maureen Bacon made an order for Bonnie to pay the £2300 or serve seven days in jail in default.

At his sentencing hearing the court heard that Bonnie acted as a courier as he owed a cannabis dealer £600 and was it was a way of him reducing the debt. A block of cocaine was found hidden in the boot of the car with the help of a drugs dog.
