A man caught driving while 10 times the ketamine limit has been banned from the roads for 12 months.

Philip Pallett, 24 of Crescent West in Kettering, was pulled over by police after being seen 'driving very slowly and drifting between lanes' on Yarmouth Road in Norwich on March 31.

Norwich Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday that a search of his car then revealed 29 tablets of MDMA, and blood tests gave a reading of 211mcg of ketamine. The legal limit is 20.

Sally Dale, mitigating for Pallett, told the court: 'At the time he had a ketamine problem. Some bright spark told him he would be better off trying ecstasy because it would be less harmful.

'He bought ecstasy to wean himself off ketamine and see if he could work it out that way.'

She added since the offence he has sold his car and got 'completely clean' of drugs.

Pallett was fined £400, with £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge, after admitting drug driving and possession of MDMA.
