Arsonists are believed to be behind two fires on Norwich's historic Mousehold Heath.

Firefighters were called to three fires at the nature reserve yesterday and two of them had been started deliberately.

The first call was at just before 3.30pm, with a crew from Earlham called to tackle the flames. Arson is suspected.

A crew from Carrow was despatched to deal burning heathland again at 8.45pm.

And firefighters from Carrow were back at another fire in grass at the reserve at just before 9.30am. Those flames were also thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters also fought a fire at Thetford Forest yesterday and issued an appeal on Twitter for people to take extra care when near forests and heathland.
