A father and son have been ordered to pay a man compensation after he was injured in an attack during which he was run over.

Scott Grey, 23, Andrew Sinclair, 48, and Alex Sinclair, 18, all appeared at Norwich Crown Court yesterdayto be sentenced in connection with an incident in January last yearduring which 17-year-old Andreas Kyriacou was run over in Cliff Road, Cromer.

Grey, of Goodwood Close, off Woodside Road, Norwich, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.

Andrew Sinclair, of Links Avenue, Cromer, pleaded guilty to a charge of affray, and Alex Sinclair, also of Links Avenue, Cromer, pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening behaviour.

Nick Methwold, prosecuting, said a number of people, including the victim and defendants, had been in the Spar shop on Cliff Road, Cromer, in January last year, when 'words were exchanged'.

The victim was followed by the three defendants in a car being driven by Grey who was disqualified from driving at the time.

The court heard that the car was driven towards the pavement, went up on the pavement and hit the victim 'causing him to roll up on the bonnet, windscreen, and fall onto the road'.

The victim managed to get up and go round the corner where he could see an altercation taking place between Grey, Andrew Sinclair and Jamie Blake. Sinclair pushed Mr Blake in the chest and 'directed a glancing blow' at his head which side-swiped him. The younger Sinclair remained in the car where he 'directed abuse' as the fight took place.

Michael Clare, mitigating for Grey who is set to move to a house next to Wymondham police station, said his client had already spent 215 days on remand in custody which was the equivalent to a 15 month custodial sentence.

Ian James, mitigating for Andrew Sinclair, said his client had 'foolishly got himself involved' in something that had not been of his making and had earlier tried to calm things down.

Katharine Moore, mitigating for Alex Sinclair, said her client was 18, had pleaded guilty, and had no similar previous convictions.

Judge Paul Downes sentenced Grey to nine months custody, suspended for 18 months, for the actual bodily harm and dangerous driving offences, ordered him to complete 18 months supervision, attend a substance abuse programme as well as complete an alcohol treatment requirement. He was also disqualified from driving for two years and told he must take an extended test before he can drive again.

Andrew Sinclair was sentenced to six months prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 18 months supervision, attend an offending behaviour programme, and pay 200 compensation to Andreas Kyriacou.

Alex Sinclair was ordered to do a 12 month community order with 100 hours unpaid work and pay the victim 200 compensation.
