Now may be the best chance to grab that gift for a Norwich City fan, with the chance to get your hands on a piece of Carrow Road history.

Railings from the Canaries football ground are to be sold by TW Gaze Diss Auction Rooms later this month.

The railings are black with canary yellow tips, with the famous signage across the front, which has been seen by thousands of fans.

Robert Kinsella, auctioneer and valuer at TW Gaze Diss, said: 'The vendor that brought them in received them after builders were called to do some work on the River End part of the stadium.

'Apparently a vehicle collided into the wall there and a building firm was brought in to do repairs.'

The vendor approached the building firm and purchased the pieces of Carrow Road history before they could be scrapped.

'The vendor would have a price in mind on what he wants to make on them,' he added.

Mr Kinsella and his team have valued the railings between £1,000 and £1,500. But the price is expected to rise as City fans bid on the day.

'If they didn't have the Norwich City link they wouldn't be that desirable,' he added. 'It is the Norwich link that will sell it but I am sure we have plenty of Norwich supporters around here.'

City fans have already begun lining up to bid on the lot, with members of the community getting in touch with the auction house to stake their claim for the railings.

The largest downfall to the sale is the size of the railings. Mr Kinsella says there is around 40ft of panelling, meaning the buyer would need a lot of space to display or store it.

The railings originally stood on a brick wall surrounding the ground.

'One idea would be to ditch the plain fencing and make a nice feature out of the two large panels with the signage,' he added.

'It is going to be an interesting lot.'

The railings will go to auction on Saturday, November 25 at the next architectural salvage and statuary at the TW Gaze Diss Auction Rooms.
