Fifty tickets to BeWILDerwood adventure park, a year's rent and an advertising campaign to gain new members – that's how far Community Cash could go for your group.

They were the items on the shopping list of Single Parents in Norfolk, or SPiN, which supports families who have been through bereavement, divorce or separation, when it applied last year.

The group received 800 to continue its work, offering activities for kids from art classes to subsidised outings and advice for adults on a range of subjects.

Your community group or charity could benefit in the same way this year from Sport Relief Community Cash – with 50,000 up for grabs.

Grants of up to 1,000 are awarded in partnership with the Evening News and the Norfolk Community Foundation for those who are helping the community in deprived or disadvantaged parts of the Norwich City Council local authority area.

Hellesdon-based SPiN applied in last year's campaign – a decision chairman Justine Davenport said had paid off several times over.

'It was absolutely fabulous – it was our 10th anniversary and we were able to take all our members to BeWILDerwood for a celebration.

'It's a treat for the kids that they might not get otherwise' she said.

'We also paid a year's rent to hold our meetings, and printed leaflets and banners to get our name out there.

'We are a support network for parents or guardians, and we signpost them on to further help if they need it.

'We couldn't run without the generosity of these grants. We are so grateful.'
