A woman has been fined after her car ran out of petrol on the A47 and caused a collision.

A Renault Clio had been left on the A47 at Colney on November 14 last year without its hazard lights on, and caused a collision

Charlotte Bayston, 21, of Prince Close, Costessey, admitted causing her vehicle to be left in a dangerous position at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday.

Stephen Spence, mitigating, said Bayston “did everything she could to prevent an accident happening”.

“She called the police immediately. She tried to activate her hazard warning lights but they weren’t working for some reason. Other lights were on but unfortunately there was a collision. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt and she was very shaken up by the incident.”

Bayston was fined £100 and told to pay costs of £50 and a £30 surcharge. She also had three penalty points added to her licence.
