Simply by purchasing and hanging a calendar on their walls, £10,000 has been raised for charity.

The East of England Co-operative Society’s 2011 calendar, which features images of scenes from across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex including sunsets, seascapes and landscapes, are all captured by local amateur photographers.

And money raised from their sale has gone to the Treehouse Appeal at the East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH) which supports families and cares for youngsters with life-threatening conditions.

Roger Grosvenor, group general manager – trading, said: “With the help of customers who have bought the calendars in their thousands we have been able to make this excellent donation to a very worthy cause which supports children and their families across our region.

“The calendars are still available in our stores, so there is still the opportunity for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices to benefit from even more money.”

The Visions of East Anglia calendar has been on sale in all East of England Co-operative retail outlets and 50p from each sold has been donated to the charity.

Mark Loades, from The Treehouse Appeal said: “£10,000 is a fantastic sum, which is greatly appreciated by all the children and families who use EACH services. We would also like to thank everyone who has bought the calendar and helped to raise this sum.”
