A team of 26 staff members from City College Norwich and Norfolk Educational Services have completed their Three Peaks challenge.

The team returned to Norwich after the four-day test in which they climbed more than 11,000 feet across the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.

They first went to Fort William, in Scotland, before starting the climb up Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain.

The students carried on their journey by going to Lakes College in the Lake District. On the following day they ascended Scafell Pike, the tallest peak in England.

The expedition continued from northern England to Snowdonia, in Wales, for the final mountain of the challenge, Mount Snowdon.

The peak was conquered before the tired team travelled back that evening.

All the people who set out to complete the challenge finished with a couple of people joining the original team by signing up late on. The team had aimed to finish within 96 hours but they did a lot better than that and completed their challenge with six hours to spare.

The team set out with the aim of raising £15,000 for the CCN Student opportunities fund. The actual figure that the team raised will not be revealed until a dinner on May 23.

The fund allows CCN students who face financial difficulties at home or other circumstances to continue with their education by helping and providing them with various items and funding that they might need in order to get the best from their time in education.
