An award-winning Norfolk brewery is giving real ale fans an early Christmas treat as it opens its doors to the public.

Visitors to Woodforde’s Brewery in Woodbastwick, near Wroxham, will get the chance to experience first-hand a working brewery, with the opportunity of free tours from a Woodforde’s expert, between 10am and 7pm on Friday, November 26.

As well as touring the brewery, visitors will be able to sample cask ales produced on site, from award-winning favourites such as Wherry and Nelson’s Revenge, to an exclusive taster of seasonally brewed Christmas ale, Tinsel Toes.

Marketing manager Sharon Chatten said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for fans of Woodforde’s ales to come and have a look behind the scenes at how the brewery operates. Real ale fans take enjoyment from understanding how our beers are made and will get an opportunity to sample a wide variety of our beers.” Woodforde’s is a firm supporter of local products and the current Norfolk Butcher of the Year, James Rutland of Rutland Butchers, from Melton Constable in north Norfolk, will be showcasing a selection of his speciality sausages, including his recipe made with Nelson’s Revenge.

Cole’s Traditional foods, from Saffron Walden in Essex, has also teamed up with Woodforde’s to produce a Christmas pudding made with Norfolk Nog, which can be sampled on the day.

The Woodforde’s shop will also be open.

The Evening News has been urging punters to support pubs and local breweries throughout our Love Your Local campaign.
