A 'fountain' has appeared outside John Lewis in Norwich as part of the £3 million roadworks scheme taking place across the city.
The fountain appeared outside Pymm and Co Estate Agent, where Golden Ball Street turns onto Ber Street.
The water surge was caused by a third party contractor working in the area.
A spokesperson for Transport for Norwich said: 'We are aware of damage to the mains water supply in the Golden Ball Street area.
'Anglian Water engineers are on site working to isolate the problem and carry out a repair as quickly as possible.'
After Anglian Water fixed the leak at midday on Thursday, the fountain came back with vengeance early afternoon - bigger and taller than before.
Anglian Water have confirmed they will be redeeming the costs of the repair from the company that caused the damage, so it doesn't impact customer bills.
The blunder comes just four months after an oversight on Cattle Market Street resulted in 26 days of roadworks to move a traffic island eight metres down the hill.
