Losing your hair can be one of the psychologically damaging side effects of chemotherapy for cancer sufferers.

And mum-of-two Sarah Knights knows only too well how difficult it can be to deal with after being diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago.

Now, her friend, city hairdresser Michala Gee, has organised an evening of fashion and fun to raise funds to help those who have lost their hair.

The Well Woman Hair Show is tonight at Project Night Club, Riverside, Norwich, in aid of Breast Cancer and My New Hair, a new charity founded by Trevor Sorbie which provides a wig-styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.

It is hoped the event, from 7pm to 9pm, will raise more than £2,000.

Mrs Knights, 47, who lives in Newton St Faith with husband Michael and two daughters, said: “Having been through the experience of losing my hair, chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery, I know how important it is to raise awareness and funds for these causes. Losing my hair was a big issue for me at the time.”

Tonight’s event will include a hair show with make-up by Mac and clothes by Top Shop. There will be an auction for a signed Norwich City football and a raffle. Tickets cost £10 and are available at Bliss hair salon at Fitness First at Riverside or on the door.
