A signed Canaries shirt donated by defender Russell Martin to a supporter has been raffled to raise 1,427.50 for a charity fighting Crohn's and colitis diseases.

As reported, City fan Michael Church was given the shirt to raffle and raise funds to combat the illness that he and Mr Martin suffer from.

The Norwich City defender has battled ulcerative colitis, which is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and is thought to affect more than 100,000 people in the UK.

Mr Church and his girlfriend Emma Brothwood, both from Hemsby, found out about Mr Martin's condition and visited him at the club's training ground in Colney.

The shirt was raffled at the Old Hall in Caister-on-Sea on July 16.

Miss Brothwood said: 'We managed to raise 1427.50 for the National Association for Crohn's and Colitis NACCcharity, which we are really happy about.

'The shirt was won by Kevin Quinn and was presented to him by Michael.

'The first prize in the raffle was the shirt, the second prize was a meal for two at the Olive Garden restaurant in Great Yarmouth, and the third and fourth prizes were a 'Cut and Finish' donated by Fusion hairdressers in Gorleston.

'We would like to thank all of them plus Norwich City FC, which helped throughout, Church Belles Bridal Limited in Yarmouth and The Old Hall Hotel.'

Miss Brothwood previously raised 800 for research and support of any people affected by IBD after she and her mother completed the NACC charity walk in London on May 7.

Mr Church was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after he was admitted to Gorleston's James Paget Hospital in 2008, with blood loss, stomach pains, and vomiting.
