A charity fundraising day at a Thorpe St Andrew supermarket has raised more than £500 for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association
Staff and SSAFA volunteers at the Pound Lane Sainsbury’s helped raise the money on Saturday, September 1 when they donned back to school fancy dress, held a tombola and did a bag pack and collection in the store
Sue Lynn, charity champion at Sainsbury’s Pound Lane store, said they raised £517.16 from the day, bringing their current fundraising total for the charity to £3,139.99.
She said the store wanted to say a big thank you to all the customer and volunteers that have helped to raise the funds.
The SSAFA is the UK’s oldest Armed Forces charity, and supports over 50,000 people in the Armed Forces community each year.
