Firefighters were called to a shopping centre's car park today after emissions from a customer's vehicle raised the alarm.
Chapelfield, in St Stephens Street, Norwich, closed its car park for around 15 minutes.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue said two engines from Carrow and Earlham responded at 4.33pm after smoke activated the car park's water sprayers.
Sheridan Smith, Chapelfield's marketing manager. said: 'We had to isolate level minus two of the car park for around 15 minutes earlier this afternoon due to excessive emissions from a customer's car, which set off the first level of our fire protection system.
'The car park is fully operational again after this brief incident. As always, the safety of our customers and staff is of the utmost importance.'
