A Norwich community charity is celebrating after being awarded a grant from the National Lottery's Big Lottery Fund.

More than 40 projects across Norfolk and Waveney are receiving a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, totalling to over £1.6 million.

The grants will help towards projects they have organised to help people who need support in their community.

ERM CIC in Norwich were awarded £10,000 towards their 'Make your move invasion' project. This project will bring younger and older people neglected by society to work together to create a sci-fi film. The aim if for development of strong relationships and increase social skills.

Fiona Muller, from ERM CIC, said: 'We are excited to be working with Pathways College and Care UK to produce a Sci-fi silent movie. The two groups will be working together to inspire a movie that takes the idea of early black and white sci-fi to write, act it and produce a film.

'We are starting the project in January and can't wait to watch some movies together to inspire everyone. The film will be shown to the public at the Forum later on in the year.'

Frere Road Community Centre in Heartsease were given £9,990 for their project Heart for Heartsease - 25 years anniversary celebration. The project will run a series of community outreach events to help renovate the community centre.

Hethersett Memorial Playing Field Committee have been awarded £8,550 for their Feasibility for pavilion improvements project. It will carry out a study to identify how the pavilion can be improved and used by the growing community.

Norwich based charity, Break were awarded £9,980 for their project Speak Up Forum. The project will use the funding to deliver a series of sessions offering support and guidance for care leavers to help them to transition into adult life.
