Research into workplace wellbeing conducted by the University of East Anglia was shared with the public at the Royal Norfolk Show.

The university is one of a number of institutions working with the What Works Centre for Wellbeing to establish links between mental and physical wellbeing and business performance.

The project, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, has reviewed 25,000 research scientific studies and analysed data from hundreds of organisations.

Kevin Daniels, professor of organisational behaviour at UEA's Norwich Business School, told an audience at the show that a sense of belonging was one of the most important factors affecting people's wellbeing at work, along with a sense of purpose and control.

'Now we can see a link between being socially embedded in a workplace, productivity and wellbeing,' Prof Daniels said.
