Holidaymakers will be able to jet off from Norwich Airport to Turkey from next summer with the opening of a new route.
Thomas Cook is launching a weekly service to Dalaman – the city’s only direct flight to Turkey – from May 23, 2018.
Flight-only and package holidays are available to book now from the holiday operator.
After safety fears provoked by terror threats, Turkey is reinstating itself as a popular spot for British holidaymakers. It was the third most popular destination for Brits behind Spain and Greece this summer, and package holiday bookings were up 10% compared with 2016.
Richard Pace, managing director of Norwich Airport, said: “It’s great to have Thomas Cook back at Norwich with such a brilliant offer for package holidays and flights to Turkey. I’m sure this will be a popular destination for summer 2018 and gives local people even more choice for a sunshine getaway.”
Christoph Debus, chief airlines officer at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We are delighted to once again be offering holidaymakers in the Norwich area the ease of flying from their local airport.”
