Norwich City footballers and their children will be playing a different kind of game after a Norfolk company agreed a deal to decorate their Carrow Road crèche.
The Canaries are hoping the family feel of their players’ lounge’s children’s area, which has been created by Orchard Toys, will help attract players to the club.
Designers from the Wymondham-based educational toy maker worked in partnership with the club to bring their characters to life on a large scale to give children a fun environment to play in while their dad’s are on the pitch.
Norwich City chief executive Steve Stone said the family friendly nature of the club was one of the key selling points for players.
He said: “We are very much focused on being a family club and there has been a fair change in playing staff but also other staff at the club recently.
“People want to feel at home and when we are introducing the club to players we make a big play on being a family club and this is all part of that.”
He added: “I know Daniel Farke and the coaching staff really appreciate the welcoming environment it helps to create for our players’ families and guests on a matchday.”
Orchard Toys’ products are sold in 50 countries and are translated into several languages where needed, meaning City’s foreign recruits can join in the fun.
Orchard Toys managing director Simon Newbery said: “We are so pleased to be able to work in partnership with Norwich City.
“The local community is really important to both businesses and it is fantastic that we have been able to work together to create such a special and engaging environment for young children.”
He added the family ethos of the company was a good fit with Norwich City and he was sure both parties would benefit from the partnership.
City midfielder Wes Hoolahan said: “I think it’s really great what they’ve done with all the toys and activities they’ve put in there for the children.
“The kids really appreciate it and so do the mums and dads.”
Orchard Toys is expecting to produce more than two million products this year with each of its products designed and packaged in Norfolk.
During peak times the firm produce 60,000 games a week.
