The Norfolk Chamber of Commerce has elected the second female president in its 122-year history.

Fiona Ryder was selected for a two-year term at the business organisation’s AGM on Tuesday.

In her inaugural speech Ms Ryder, managing director of TCD Media, outlined her key themes for her term.

These included innovation – which she put into the context of Brexit, saying firms would need “to innovate, modernise and apply new ways of thinking” to overcome challenges such as potential new border controls – and improving productivity.

As only one of two women to ever hold the office of president at the Norfolk Chamber, she also expressed her desire to promote modernisation of corporate culture and boardrooms to ensure “better economic outcomes”.

She added that she would champion initiatives “that will effect positive change for our region”.
