Firms feeling positive despite turbulent year at Norfolk Chamber of Commerce's B2B Exhibition

Norfolk businesses were in confident mood for the year ahead as more than 100 firms came together for one of the biggest business events in the county.
Norfolk Chamber of Commerce’s B2B Exhibition, held at Norwich City Football Club, brought together different sectors with businesses keen to meet potential clients and suppliers.
Norfolk Chamber chief executive Chris Sargisson said: “I know there are some businesses which are finding growth restricted because of not being able to find staff with the right skills but there is a an urge and determination for businesses to really get on.
“We have some exciting businesses forming in Norfolk and we will aim to support them even more in 2018.
“This year has been turbulent with elections, Brexits and Trumps but everyone wants to push on and get on with it.
“There is an air of optimism and positivity in Norfolk.”
Lovewell Blake VAT consultant Rob Geary said while there were a few clouds on the horizon firms he had been speaking to were feeling good. He said: “There is a positive feeling with some uncertainty about Brexit and what that brings.
“A lot of smaller businesses are investing and trying to grow and we have seen a lot of agricultural clients diversifying and expanding their business.”
Britannia Fire’s service sales manager John Baldock said export sales had been strong for the fire extinguisher manufacturer.
He said: “Things are going very well both with steel extinguishers and composite ones.
“Probably about 60% of our business goes abroad. We do a lot of business in the Far East and that has continued to be strong.”
This year’s B2B had a strong digital flavour with firms from across the tech sector.
David Manning, managing director of data centre Migsolv, said business was going well with changes in legislation putting his services forefront in people’s minds.
He said: “We have had the best nine months the company has had for the last two or three years.
“We are predicting continued growth next year. With regulation coming in firms are starting to think about where their data is.”
As well as the exhibition there were masterclasses on marketing and social media.
