Norwich City football club today announced a five year extension to its long standing partnership with Norwich and Peterborough Building Society.

The 20-year partnership between N&P and the Canaries began with a five-year shirt sponsorship for the successful 1992-93 season and included the launch of the Canary Account in 1997.

The club said the savings account has contributed more than 3.6m to the Canaries, all thanks to donations paid by the N&P based on the amount City fans saved in their Canary Account.

The club today announced that the N&P will extend the partnership and support to Norwich City for a further five years, which includes the continuation of sponsorship of the N&P Stand, which began in 1992, and provision of the Canary Account. City fans are also due to be able to benefit from a range of exclusive new savings products to be launched by N&P over the next year.

Will Hoy, the club's head of sales and marketing said: 'This is another example of one of the club's most loyal commercial partners supporting our great Football Club.

'To celebrate 20 years with a new five-year contract extension makes this very special indeed. Thank you to the loyal N&P staff who make the savings account the success it is and the many thousands of loyal Canary account holders.'

Mike Sketch, Norwich and Peterborough Building Society's head of sales and marketing, said: 'When we talk to our members and customers in and around Norwich we know how much they recognise the partnership we have forged with the Canaries over the past 20 years.

'We are absolutely delighted to be extending the partnership. The values of the club, which remains a family-friendly and respected member of its community, reflect our own and we are as proud of our support today as we were 20 years ago.

'Through the success of the Canary Account, supporters and customers have helped us to make a significant contribution to the club and engage with our community. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship further over the next five years.'

To celebrate the new deal, the club said that any City fan who either saves 100 in an existing Canary Account or opens a new Canary Account in branch with 100 between Monday September 10 and Saturday September 15, will receive a free Norwich City player photo personally signed by their favourite player.

Plus there are five Norwich City signed shirts to be won. Every day from Tuesday to Saturday, any City fan who saves in a Canary Account will be entered into a daily prize draw to win a Norwich City shirt signed by the first team squad.

On Saturday September 15 when City play West Ham United at Carrow Road, Norwich City and N&P will be making more winners. During half-time, to mark the 20-year partnership, 20 season ticket holders will be randomly drawn out to win a free Norwich City shirt.
